My Story
Name: Justin Dixon
Age: 23 Birthday: Aug 26th
Home: Lynchburg, VA (USA)
A few years ago I had an idea that terrified me. Some day I am likely to get married. In that marriage, I am likely to have kids. Any kids that grow up with me as a dad, are likely to pick up my bad habits … *screams from the sheer horror*.
Thus launched a quest of self-improvement.
When I started this quest I quickly found that I couldn’t change my bad habits all at once. Every time I started to get somewhere I’d stress out and end up right back where I was. Finally I tried something that worked! I slowed down. I started learning to be patient with myself, and little by little I’ve made change. I’ve been at it for three years now. I am still in this process. I have a long way to go. I have learned a few things on the way.
For example I have:
- Re-prioritized my life
- Improved my self-image
- Improved my overall attitude
- Started eating healthier (semi-vegetarian)
- Read a ton of books
- Stopped making excuses for my goals
- Improved my people skills
- Surrounded myself with positive influences
- Overall become a more genuine me
- Started taking my dreams seriously
- Diminished the power of excuses in my life
- Greatly Increased my focus
Perhaps, something I’ve learned can help you make changes in your life, and achieve the goals that are important to you.
I am by no means an official authority. All I have is a drive to make myself better, and a passion for learning. All I can offer are the ways of thinking that have made a difference for me.
As long as there is any chance that someone else will pick up my habits than I must improve. After all, we are responsible for the habits, attitudes, and world views that we pass on.
Where ever you are in life, welcome to my blog.

Hi Justin Dixon,
I thought of exploring your blog.
Good to know about you.
Not all are born in the same environment and not all think about the consequences of their actions. “What next?” is asked only by visionaries.
It needs constant reminder to keep focussed. The mind is a chatter box, sometimes…
“What you sow is what u reap” was actually a statement from Eastern religions. We are what we are because of our previous lives, and what we do in this life effects the future lives. In the past life regression (from the many books i read), the higher self tells “Improvement of moral character is the most important, I am not interested in your worldly goals or your body”. Moral character & personality traits pass from one life to the next. So self improvement is not only the best investment for this life, but also for the next lives. Thats what i feel after reading books on past life regression.
That stories apart, constant reading like the blogs of yours… will help keep focussed & enthusiastic.
Cheers!

I can’t believe you are 23, I have a 22 year old stepson, mentioned self improvement books to him and he told me “I don’t believe in that stuff” I turned to him and said so what you are saying is you don’t believe in yourself.
I am sooo impressed here.

What an inspirational young man you are! You’ve gained wisdom that many people decades older have yet to even have an inkling about.

I don’t have wisdom that others don’t, I just work harder to listen to it.

Really great insights! I came to the same conclusion myself when thinking about my long-term goals as a musician, and how I could record a fantastic album. :) Soon I realized I was thinking way ahead of myself, and to just focus on perfecting one song at a time. At this point I have all 12 songs ready to be recorded, and just looking for the right place to record them at. I am very excited about finally recording my album! I believe the key to happiness is being true to yourself, and following your souls true calling by doing what you truly love most. Thanks for sharing your insights!
Peace
~Crystal

Thank you^.^ Though I can only call myself an inspiration if it is acted upon. The greatest praise you could give me would be to go out and do something great because of something I said.
